Pat Shewchuk and Marek Colek are Toronto based artists working in film and print under the name Tin Can Forest.
Localism, environmentalism, the urban environment and Slavic folk culture inform and inspire their work. |

|
Their work has been screened at festivals and galleries internationally, including the Ottawa Animation Festival, The Tokyo International Film Festival, The San Francisco International Film Festival, The Kyoto Manga Museum, and The Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. |

|
|
|
They have received support from the Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council, The Chalmers Arts Fellowship,The Canada Council or the Arts, as well as Bravo! Canada. Pat and Marek have worked as directors and designers of animation for broadcasters including Cartoon Network,Teletoon, and PBS . Recently Marek designed and was the art director for PBS & WNET Thirteen's ARTOPIA, an animated television show about art for children (first aired September 2008). |

Tin Can Forest's work has appreared in print in publications such as The New Yorker, Communication Arts, and Oaken Throne. In October 2008, Drawn and Quarterly published Tin Can Forest's first art book, POHADKY. |

On January 6th 2009, Night of the Ukrainian Holy Night, Pat and Marek wandered into the forest on a British Columbian Gulf Island and haven't been seen since. Somehow they still manage to communicate telepathically with the friends, family and colleagues. They are planing a pilgrimage to the Toronto Comic Arts Festival in May. |
